Mold found in your Wadsworth, OH home?

8/31/2022 (Permalink)

Mold is a common and necessary part of our world. This type of fungus is useful in decomposing organic material, and is part of nature’s garbage disposal system.

It is when mold begins growing in places where we do not want it (such as in our homes) that it becomes a serious issue that can negatively impact our health and the safety of our house. That is why it is important to regularly check and evaluate the mold risk in our homes.

Visually spotting mold is the most obvious way to determine if you have mold in your home. If mold is growing on walls, ceilings, in cabinets, etc.  you most likely have something going on that is encouraging the mold growth, such as a leak, or a humidity issue. The item that is causing the mold is important to fix, even before you begin to think about how to get rid of the mold, because if you don’t fix the source, the mold will inevitably return.

Here at SERVPRO of Medina County we have Certified Trained Technicians that can perform mold remediation services adequately while protecting the health and safety of our workers and your family.

SERVPRO of Medina County knows what to do if mold grows in your home

7/28/2022 (Permalink)

It’s estimated that more than 1 million types of mold exist, yet less than 10 percent have actually been named. This means mold is very common in both indoor and outdoor environments. While mold and humans can sometimes co-exist without issue, there are certain species of mold that can cause health effects for some people.

If the right conditions exist, mold will grow.  Those conditions include:

Water - Different mold types require varying amounts of liquid before growth begins.

Temperature - Normal indoor temperatures will promote mold growth.

Time - Initial mold colonizers can take hold within one day after being exposed to an adequate water supply.

Mold growth can occur in any home, so it’s important to keep an eye out for situations that might promote mold activity. Roof/chimney leaks, wet basements, or condensation from ducts that dampen surrounding insulation are just a few examples of issues that make a house a prime target for mold growth.

If you suspect mold in your home, call SERVPRO of Medina County to assess the situation. We have the knowledge, tools and track record to effectively remediate mold in your home or business.

If you suspect mold, call us today at 1-800-933-7179

What to Do:

I always use SERVPRO for all of my cleanups in our houses. They have the best customer service and friendly techs. I'm always in the loop on what's going on and don't have to call to get updates. I also have to mention my favorite person Lori because she sets the tone for my wonderful experience.

DeAnn

Extremely impressed at the level of customer service and care shown by the entire team at SERVPRO. Lori walked us through every step of the process and was always just a phone call or text message away to answer any questions that arose. High praise goes to the crew members, as they completed the work required efficiently and professionally. I would 100% recommend SERVPRO Medina for anyone in need of the services they provide. Thank you for the work you do!

Dan

We used SERVPRO for restoring a storage unit that was taken over by Raccoons. I worked closely with Lori V and she was great. Everyone was awesome to work with and they did a great job.

Ed

We have used them quite a few times for our large pipe breaks that we have had over the last 15 years. Every time we have called they have had a team hear in no time and got cleaned up without any delays. The last flood took almost a week to finalize as far as total dry out but no smells after completion. They do a great job and would recommend them every time.

Moldy baseboard removed from the wall and lying on carpet pad. Mold is on wall and backside of the baseboard. Be careful! Without proper training, you could be spreading mold throughout your home.

If you see visible mold, do not disturb it. You can inadvertently spread the mold infestation throughout your home. When mold is disturbed, the mold can release microscopic mold spores which become airborne and can circulate inside your home.

What to Do:

*Stay out of affected areas.

*Turn off the HVAC system and fans.

*Contact SERVPRO of SERVPRO of Medina County for mold remediation services.

What Not to Do:

*Don’t touch or disturb the mold.

*Don’t blow air across any surfaces with visible or suspected mold growth.

*Don’t attempt to dry the area yourself.

Virginia wanted to thank everyone that came to her home to clean up after her fire and pack out her contents.  She said they were very kind, professional and were always working hard.

She was very impressed with Bob for his professionalism on how he connected with her and showed that he really cared.  She had complained about a new tech on site that was not working out well and Bob told her it would be taken care of and he/she would not return to her home.  She was very impressed that he was right on top of it.

She also said the weather was very hot and there was no air coming through the windows, but the team continued to work hard nonstop.  She fed them with snacks and cool items to help keep them cooled down and they were very appreciative.

She enjoyed their company very much each and every one.  Bob warmed her heart with a plant that he had personally given to her at the end of the job thanking her for using us and also for being so kind to our team.  She loved it!

She expressed that we have a great leader in Bob who knows how to run a crew and get the job completed and he cares about the customers.  She also said that Bob is a man who you can confide in and that’s a plus!

Multiple products in the SERVPRO product line carry the EPA-approved emerging pathogens claims. While there is currently no product tested against this particular strain of the coronavirus, we are following all guidelines as provided by the CDC and local authorities.

Mold found in your Wadsworth, OH home?

3/3/2020 (Permalink)

Mold is a common and necessary part of our world. This type of fungus is useful in decomposing organic material, and is part of nature’s garbage disposal system.

It is when mold begins growing in places where we do not want it (such as in our homes) that it becomes a serious issue that can negatively impact our health and the safety of our house. That is why it is important to regularly check and evaluate the mold risk in our homes.

Visually spotting mold is the most obvious way to determine if you have mold in your home. If mold is growing on walls, ceilings, in cabinets, etc, you most likely have something going on that is encouraging the mold growth, such as a leak, or a humidity issue.

Review your insurance policies

3/3/2019 (Permalink)

Are you making a New Year's Resolution? Statistically, more than half of all resolutions fail... but they don't have to. We have some resolutions you can actually keep this year. Even better? You can accomplish most of these in January and be sitting pretty for the rest of the year, worry free with a simple insurance audit!

Update Home Inventory

Your home inventory is a tool that your agent can use to determine the right level of coverage for your homeowners insurance. Plus, if you have a claim, having an up-to-date inventory will benefit you and get your claim paid faster. If you haven't done an inventory on your home in a while, we have some tips on where to start. If you have completed an inventory, right after the holidays are and ideal time to update! Be sure to share the updated home inventory with your agent when you're done.

Right-Size Your Life Insurance

Life insurance is not one-size-fits-all. Your coverage needs to evolve over time. If you don't have a policy yet, now is a great time to talk to your agent about what type of policy would best suit your needs (and your budget.) We have six things you should consider when you are looking at coverage.

If you do already have life insurance, is it working hard for you? Could you get more benefit out of your policy while you are still living? Maybe. Talk to your agent about the ways you can make your existing policy work for you and your family.

Earn Discounts

Did you know that you can play a part in determining your auto insurance rates? With Driveology, you have the chance to earn discounts based on your good driving behavior. You can also monitor your vehicle health and environmental impact in the process.

If you have a teen driver in the house, you may be able to save even more with you Young Driver Safety program. With this program, drivers under the age of 25 can learn safe driving behaviors, and help you earn discounts on your auto policy premiums.

Prepare for the Unexpected

You try to be as prepared as possible, but you never know what is right around the corner. Prepare for unexpected risks with an umbrella policy. Umbrella earns its name because the coverage arches over your vehicle and homeowner's insurance to provide an extra layer of protection: it starts where vehicle and homeowner's insurance liability limits stop. You might be surprised by all the things umbrella policies cover for an affordable price.

Call Your Agent

When was the last time you evaluated your coverage's with your agent? Your agent can do an annual SuperCheck and make sure you are covered where you need it (and aren't paying for coverage's you've outgrown). Life changes fast, make sure your insurance keeps up. If you have been wondering if you could bundle your policies, need a different life insurance policy, or bought a new boat, you could use a SuperCheck. Contact your agent and schedule a brief review today.

With this new year, if you have resolved to save money, your agent may be able to help. Contact your agent today. It's an easy resolution to keep and can affect your bottom line all year. Can you say that for other resolutions?

First Responder Bowl Game Challenge

2/7/2019 (Permalink)

Presenting the check to Make A Wish

SERVPRO sponsored the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl Game in December. In line with that game, we wanted to honor our local first responders as well.

We created a bracket challenge set up like March Madness. Our local first responders had to pick a winner for each bowl game and whatever department had the most points at the end of the National Championship game, would win $1,000 to the charity of their choice.

Throughout all the Bowl games being played out, our leader board changed often. We had 17 brackets submitted to participate. Medina Fire and Medina Police were tied for first for awhile and then Brunswick Police and Brunswick Fire took over first. Eastlake Police were in the battle for 1st place as well.

After all bowl games had been played, Brunswick Fire, Brunswick Police and Eastlake Police were tied for 1st place. It came down to the National Championship game. If Alabama won, it was between Eastlake Police and Brunswick Police which would come down to a total point tie breaker. If Clemson won, Brunswick Fire would win.

By now, you know Clemson shocked everyone and won! Brunswick Fire Department was our winner. They selected Make A Wish to donate their $1,000 to. On January 28th we presented the $1,000 check to Make A Wish at the Brunswick City Council Meeting.

This was a fun opportunity to partner with our local first responders and we’re looking forward to the 2019 First Responder Bowl Game!

Flooded Basements and Water Damage are not a DIY Job

1/16/2019 (Permalink)

Flooded basement repair is not a DIY job.

Despite the magazines, television shows, and Internet articles that may have you thinking otherwise, water damage restoration is a job that should only be performed by certified professionals. SERVPRO of Medina County technicians not only have the know-how to get the job done right, but they also have the specialized tools needed to thoroughly dry your home, preventing further damage and even mold.

Additional benefits of hiring a professional water damage restoration company:

  1. Health Hazards: Depending on the source of the water damage, safety can become a concern. There are three varying degrees of water damage, ranging from clean water to black water, each more hazardous than the next. Black water, the most dangerous of the three, is water that has come into contact with fecal matter, a haven for harmful bacteria and disease-causing pathogens.
  2. Hidden Damage: Water damage is not always obvious. Sometimes it is found inside walls and under flooring. If you attempt a DIY restoration and fail to diagnose hidden damage, the resulting issues could be extreme…and expensive.
  3. Peace of Mind: Hiring a professional restoration company gives you the peace of mind knowing you have done everything in your power to rectify the situation.

If you experience a flooded basement, leave the repair to our certified professionals.

Things not to do after Fire Damage

1/4/2019 (Permalink)

If you experience fire or smoke damage in your home, here are some things that you should NOT do while waiting for your remediation team to arrive.

Don't:

  • Attempt to wash any walls or painted surfaces without first contacting SERVPRO of Medina County
  • Attempt to shampoo carpet or upholstered furniture without first consulting SERVPRO of Medina County
  • Attempt to clean any electrical appliances (TV sets, radios, etc.) that may have been close to fire, heat, or water without first consulting an authorized repair service.
  • Consume any food or beverages that may have been stored close to fire, heat, or water (they may be contaminated).
  • Turn on ceiling fixtures if ceiling is wet. Wiring may be wet or damaged and cause electrical shock, and air movement may create a secondary damage.
  • Send garments to dry cleaner. Improper cleaning may set in smoke odor.

SERVPRO of Medina County has a group of certified and trained professionals that will make your home look “Like it never even happened.”
